Terrence Rust has devoted his career to discovering the most effective means for developing an artistic and expressive piano technique. He has written six technique books on three levels: beginning, intermediate, and virtuoso. Based on the idea that the only problem to be solved in playing the piano is how to go from one note to the next, the exercises begin in two-note patterns with all possible intervals from a minor second to the octave, with all possible fingerings.
Terrence Rust has maintained an exciting and diverse performing career. He has performed solo and chamber recitals, with orchestras, and on university guest artist series and community concerts. He is widely recognized as an outstanding teacher of piano whose students have been contest winners and have gone to their own careers in music. He studied at the University of Iowa and the Juilliard School.
Terrence Rust and his colleague Eulsun Kim have established Tersun Piano Technique and Tersun Press as the forums for presenting their piano technique workshops, lectures, master classes, and books.
